Our centralized youth hockey program based in Saskatchewan focuses on individual and team development within a fair and peaceful environment, free from bias and politics. We believe every player deserves the chance to excel, regardless of their background. Our dedicated coaching staff fosters a supportive but highly competitive atmosphere, allowing young athletes to enhance their skills while understanding teamwork and sportsmanship. By emphasizing personal growth along with collective success, we aim to shape not just skilled players, but well-rounded individuals who embody our cherished values.

The SSHC Way

Incentives

Each year we want to incentivize strong players and respectable people to join our organization. Having the right people is the highest priority of the organization and we know we need to offer something significant to the people who ultimately make the decisions: the parent/guardians.

Hockey parent/guardians do so much for their kids. The money, the travel, the time in rinks...the list never ends. In the long term, the aim is to give back to the parent/guardians of each player by giving them the tools they need to be highly competitive in not just hockey, but other avenues of life. In the short term, we want the chance to give back to the parent/guardians in the most impactful way we possibly can, which is undoubtedly in the financial department.

That's why, for the 2025/2026 winter season, we are offering the following incentives:

• 5% of fees returned to every member of any SSHC team who finishes 3rd in the league standings

• 10% of fees returned to every member of any SSHC team who finishes 2nd in the league standings

• 20% of fees returned to every member of any SSHC team who finishes 1st in the league standings

• 5% of fees returned to every member of any SSHC team who wins the league championship OR when applicable, an additional 5% fee returned to every member of any SSHC team who finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the league standings

Chain of Accountability

For a strategy to come to fruition, there needs to be a robust plan in place ready to implement it and support it.

The Strategy
The director sets the course for the organization. The director gives the coaches and managers a handful of straightforward targets to achieve - with the freedom to reach the targets in their own unique way. The coaches and managers enable and motivate the players and teams to achieve the targets. The captains and players of parental coaches set the daily example for what it takes to achieve the targets. The parent/guardians are charged with understanding the targets of the team, helping the coaches effectively communicate with their player, controlling themselves at all times and holding fellow parent/guardians accountable to the same standard.

Implementation
The director holds themselves accountable by firmly holding course and holds the coaches and managers accountable to the targets they need to focus on. The coaches and managers hold the players accountable to the targets. The captains and players of parental coaches hold themselves and their fellow players accountable to the targets. All other players hold themselves and one another accountable to the standards set by their captains. The director holds the parent/guardians accountable when the parent/guardians fail to hold themselves and each other accountable.

Simplification
Hard to follow, right? Not to worry. The support is in place for everyone to clearly identify their role and to figure out what it takes to fulfill it. Everyone will know when the whole team is operating at its best when there is nothing left to do but encourage, acknowledge and celebrate everyone's efforts and successes.

The Motivation
A spectacle; is what can be used to describe individuals consistently playing their role on a team that is working toward a common goal.
